BOY AND THE CAT
Once there was a family in a village. The father of the family was a business man who owned a mill and a shop. He also had a cat as well. He had 3 sons who were in their teens. One day a tragic incident happened, their father died in an accident. There was a huge gathering and after the death ceremony was over, there was an argument regarding how the wealth should be distributed equally among the three sons. One wise man managed to reach into an agreement. As a result, the elder son got the mill, the second son got the shop and the younger one got the cat.
The younger son felt very sad. He realised that his 2 brothers could make a living through the Mill and the shop and he won't be able to do that and all he could do was to sell the cat for a reasonable price. He started searching for someone who could buy his cat. He walked very long distance and he reached a shipyard. One of the ship captains saw him and asked if he could work as a cleaner in the ship and promised that he would pay a handsome amount including food and accommodation. The younger boy agreed.
After few days, they reached an island. The captain ordered the men to unload the goods so that they could sell those those things. Now, this island was a very unique one. They had no cats. Due to this reason, there was rampant mice problem. The mice caused lot of problems to the entire people living in the island. The King of the island tried every possible way to get rid of the rats by setting up various traps. But each time, the rats outsmarted his techniques.
Meanwhile, the captain of the ship asked the boy if he had anything to sell. The boy replied that he had only has his cat. The captain asked him "why don't he sell it? you might get a reasonable price for it since this island doesn't have cats. The boy agreed with the captain and decided to sell his cat. He decided to visit the king of the island. He reached a household and the owner was having a lot of problem with the rats. The cat immediately got in action and managed to get rid of the rats. The owner of the house was pleased and rewarded him handsomly. The owner asked the boy if he could sell the cat and promised him a great reward. But the boy replied that he is taking the cat to the king. He continued his journey and on the way he managed to help so many households.
Finally, he reached the king's castle. As soon as they reached there, the cat began doing it's job and in no time got rid of all the mice. The king was very pleased and congratulated the boy. The king asked him if he could sell the cat. He also payed a large amount to the cat, which was equal to 50% of the price of other goods in the ship. The boy was astonished as how his fortunes have changed. After few months of voyage, the boy reached his home town. There, he used the money that he had gained through his journey to start his own business. Over time he became one of the richest man in the country, and lived happily ever afterđź’—.
